For the grown-ups
It looks like a treat for the kids — but it was made with you in mind too.
No app. No login. No batteries. Just something for their hands and their imagination — the kind of quiet, focused play that’s increasingly rare.
There’s still nothing like watching a child’s face light up at mail with their own name on it — especially when it’s travelled across the Atlantic from Britain to reach them.
Stickers, maps, recipes to make together — this isn’t a single-use toy. It’s something to return to, again and again, long after the letter’s been read.
An antidote to screen time — delivered to your door.
Thoughtful, tactile and gently funny. The good kind of post.
Inside every envelope
Six carefully-made pieces in one thoughtfully designed envelope, all designed to be opened, played with and kept.

A warm, funny note from Professor Horatio P. Huffington III that explains the quest and what your child is helping him find this month.
A thoughtfully designed scene from wherever his bumbling quest has landed him, telling the tale of his latest mishap.
Puzzles and games to do together or alone — and a colour-in, cut-out scene that becomes a stage for imaginative play.
A new embroidered-style sticker each edition to mark the journey so far.
A simple, tasty recipe inspired by the Professor’s travels — one for the grown-ups too.
Track Horatio’s adventures by placing each sticker on the keepsake map.
More than a read
Every edition’s concertina unfolds into a scene from Horatio’s latest mishap — and doubles as a stage for imaginative play. Colour him in, cut him out, bend his stand, and pop him right into the scene to act out the adventure for themselves.

The concertina opens out into a full illustrated scene from Horatio’s latest mishap — an instant backdrop for play.
Bring Professor Horatio to life with your own colours. No two hippos ever turn out quite the same.
Snip around Horatio and bend his little stand so he can stand up, all on his own.
Set him into the scene and act out the adventure — inventing what happens next, again and again.
How it works
A simple, screen-free ritual your child will look forward to all month — one story, chapter by chapter.

Whenever you join, your story begins at Edition 1: Italy — so no one ever starts halfway through. The first chapter is on its way.

It’s designed for curious children aged roughly 5 to 10. Younger ones love the stories and stickers with a grown-up alongside, while older children enjoy the puzzles and activities on their own.

Our story
A thoroughly British hippo, Professor Horatio P. Huffington III knows absolutely everything about hippos — except for one small thing. After forty years of study from his very comfortable armchair in the English countryside, he realised he had never actually seen the world for himself.
So, with a grand suitcase, a stiff upper lip and a round-the-world ticket, he set off in pursuit of one important question: where in the world is the perfect spot for a hippo to have a bath? Each month he writes to your child from wherever he's bumbled to next — posted, of course, all the way from England.
Horatio's Quest is carefully put together and thoughtfully made in Britain for children who love a good story — and for grown-ups the world over who believe childhood deserves a little more whimsy.
